What will happen at GC Session 2010?

Posted on March 31, 2010

Even as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up — John 3:14.

GC Session 2010 is just around the corner. Tens of thousands of Adventists will soon be making their way to Atlanta, Georgia for what could be a time of spiritual renewal and organizational restructuring or a formalistic sideshow.

God has commissioned the Adventist Church to be a beacon of light in a dark and dying world. Yes, we have impacted thousands of people around the world with the truth of God’s love, but what about the millions more? I don’t know about you, but I think it is time for our spiritual leaders to stand up and speak out. We need leaders who will be like Nehemiah, Daniel, and other bold leaders who did not compromise, play politics, or try to be culturally relevant.

When it comes to the selection of GC President, I wish we (the common people) had a say in the matter. I’m sure the current president of the Adventist Church, Jan Paulsen, has done a good job over the years, but now is the time for us to have a Church president who will take a stand on truth (in love) and hold those around Him accountable.

I wonder what our (God’s) Church would look like if the leaders were to lift up the Son of Man in all areas of ministry instead of man-made theology.

Let’s pray for our current Church leaders. Let’s also pray that God will remove those who are not serious about Him and His lifesaving truth.

President: Jan Paulsen
General Vice Presidents: Lowell C. Cooper, Mark Finley, King-Yi Eugene Hsu, Gerry D. Karst, Armando Miranda, Pardon Kandanga Mwansa, Michael L. Ryan, Ella Simmons, Ted N. C. Wilson
