Our Church Needs Acts 2 Power – Unity

“And in the fulfilling of the day of Pentecost, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly a sound came out of the heaven as borne along by the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And tongues as of fire appeared to them, being distributed; and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit.” — Acts 2:1-4

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for some Acts 2, Holy Spirit power.  God has the power and is waiting for us to stop messing around and be in one accord in one place.  Instead of coming together as an unified Church family, we are debating topics like creation/evolution, worship styles, women in ministry, finances, etc……………. This fragmentation puts a big smile on the devil’s face.

It is time to wipe that smile off Satan’s face and be about the Lord’s business of seeking and saving lost souls for the eternal kingdom.  If a large number of Adventist church leaders and members will take a stand for truth, we will begin to solidify our spiritual foundation.  As of now, our Church’s foundation is like blowing sand or rolling waves.  Postmodernism has weakened our foundation and it is time to redefine ourselves once and for all.

A Church with a rock solid foundation does not mean that no one is able to ask questions.  People need to be free to ask questions and discover the truth for themselves.  BUT, we should never compromise our wonderful truths to keep people in the Church.  Because we do not want to hurt someone’s feelings, we allow spiritual leaders and professors to bring false teachings into the Church.  This has got to stop!  Yes, feel free to ask questions and study other teachings, but do not expect our Church to adopt beliefs that contradict our spiritual foundation (Biblical truth).

Once we have solidified our spiritual foundation, we will begin to have a Church that is spiritually safe and sound to bring new believers into.  A rock solid foundation would help quiet the ultra liberals and ultra conservatives in the Church.  As on now, both parties are ripping apart the Church and need to discover a healthy balance in theology and methodology.

For example: We do not need churches that are rocking and teaching cheap grace and we do not need churches that are stuck in the 1800’s – hymns, organ music, and KJV’s only.

Let’s prayerfully seek Acts 2 unity and finish the work God has commissioned us to do.  STAND UP FOR JESUS!!!
