The Harvest

My two boys and I visited a public library today.  As my youngest and I sat in the Youth Room playing chess, I overheard an interesting conversation between a couple teenagers.  It sounded like they had recently started dating and were trying to figure each other out.

Their conversation quickly turned to religion.  The girl said something like this… “Wiccans have the best understanding of life.”  The boy responded by playfully saying that the Wiccan religion was a cult.  The girl went on to say that the following the guidance of the goddess was the way to go.  She also talked about how the wolf was a powerful spiritual being.  The boy made it very clear that he believed that the Wiccan faith, Scientology, and Christianity were cultic. [More about the Wiccan faith]

It is sad to see these young people so confused about God.  The girl seemed well educated about the Wiccan faith and committed to pursuing a deeper understanding of that belief system.

I wanted to join their conversation, but…………………………

I am not afraid to share my faith, but did not feel the time was right.  I just hope God reveals Himself to these teens before it is too late.

As we continue our journey through life, we need to be bolder in the way we share our faith.  God so loved the world that He boldly gave His Son to boldly die our forever death on the cross.  Soon after Jesus’ resurrection He gave every Christian the command to boldly, “Go into the entire world… sharing the good news with everyone.”

What can you do to impact the harvest for God’s eternal kingdom?

  1. Pray for holy boldness and wisdom every morning… asking God to guide you to people who are ready to hear the good news.
  2. Know that God has already called you and boldly share your faith every chance you get.  Share what you know and the Holy Spirit will do the rest.
  3. As the Spirit leads, invite family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers into your home on a regular basis for fellowship and meals.  When the time is right, start up a Bible study group in your home and invite all the “new friends” you have been making to join (once a week). 4. Distribute Christian literature around your neighborhood and workplace like the leaves of autumn. [AdventistBookCenter.com]
  5. Volunteer at a local non-profit organization, charity, nursing home, or hospital.
  6. Get involved in your local Boys and Girls Club.
  7. Plant a new church in an unreached potion of your town or city (or move to Albuquerque, NM and help me plant a church).  [ABQ Church Plant]
  8. And more…

Doing something to help others and sharing your faith are a couple of the most important things you can do to strengthen your walk with God.

The time has come for us to… GO 4 Jesus!
