Same-sex Marriage Legislation and Adventism

Posted on June 26, 2011

Same-sex marriage legislation passed in New York on Friday, June 24, 2011.  The gay community and supporters celebrated the legislation and some began to prepare for their weddings.

There use to be a time when a majority of people knew that homosexuality was wrong (Christians knowing that it was a sin against God).  As the world runs further and further from God in these last days, we will see people continue to leave the natural, God-given union between a man and woman.

If our Church continues to be plagued with rebellious leaders like those recently discovered at La Sierra University (drinking, foul language, evolution, etc.), we might find our Church sliding away from our Biblical stance on homosexuality.

Let us prayerfully and carefully stand strong for God and His lifesaving truth.  Even though homosexuality is an open (public) sin, we should NEVER belittle or shame those who choose this type of lifestyle.  Homosexuals should ALWAYS FEEL WELCOME in our churches.  When we talk
about sin in our churches, we need to label homosexuality a sin the same way we would label pornography, alcohol, drugs, premarital sex, and gossip a sin.  From there, we need to make sure everyone knows that a relationship with Jesus can overcome all sin.

Life is going to get more difficult in the months and years to come.  If we start living for Jesus while times are still simple, we will be prepared to live for Him in the end of time.
