Jesus said, “Go!”

Jesus said, “Go!”

Not… “Stay and play church.”

Those who take on the name of Christ (Christian) have been given a GREAT COMMISSION that involves GOING to those who need Jesus and hope.  Once we have surrendered all into the hands of God, we are then filled with the love, power, and wisdom needed to shine for Him in the home, church, workplace, and community.

Going for Jesus…

  1. Begins in the home.  We are hypocrites if we pretend to be Christians in public, but verbally, mentally, spiritually, and/or physically abuse our spouses and children.  We must first GO for Jesus to our family as we GO for Jesus in the church and community.
  2. The community is the next step in the GOING for Jesus mission.  Most people spend more time in the community working, shopping, and working out then they do in the home or church.  Once we GO for Jesus in the home, the community is the most important mission field.  This is where we become intentional modern-day disciples who develop daily plans to reach the lost for Jesus.  As Christians, we must always be ready to minister to the hurting and lost… inviting them into our homes and churches on a regular basis for Christian fellowship and discipleship.
  3. The church is the place where we come together for corporate worship and missionary planning.  If church was only about worship, we would not need church buildings… we could meet in small groups in our homes.  Church is about coming together to prepare ourselves to impact the community in a powerful way.  Ask yourself… “If we closed our church’s doors today, would the community even notice?”  Most churches would have to say, “no!”  Instead of being intimately involved in the community, most churches open their doors once or twice a week and wonder why they are not growing.  Jesus said, “Go!”  Everything we do in church must be about seeking and saving the lost.  If a church program is not about seeking the lost, then get rid of it or recreate it.  For example: Sabbath School must be about seeking the lost… church services must be about seeking the lost… fellowship meals must be about seeking the lost… prayer meetings must be about seeking the lost… pathfinders must be about seeking the lost.  If it’s about us, we have lost the vision and must repent… turning back to God and the mission He has given us in these last days.

The church is God’s appointed agency for the salvation of men. It was organized for service, and its mission is to carry the gospel to the world. From the beginning it has been God’s plan that through His church shall be reflected to the world His fullness and His sufficiency. The members of the church, those whom He has called out of darkness into His marvelous light, are to show forth His glory. The church is the repository of the riches of the grace of Christ; and through the church will eventually be made manifest, even to “the principalities and powers in heavenly places,” the final and full display of the love of God.  Ephesians 3:10.  {AA 9.1}

Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Saviour mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed His sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, “Follow Me.”–The Ministry of Healing, p. 143.
