Jesus said, “Go!”

GO and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen. – Matthew 28:19, 20.

How are you going for Jesus?  Many Christians believe that serving in church is their mission for Jesus.  Even though serving as pastor, elder, Sabbath School teacher, or door greeter is a great work to do, we need to realize that staying within the church building is not GOING for Jesus.

We have been commanded to GO for Jesus… prayerfully finding lost, lonely, and broken people who are far from God.  Opening the front doors of the church will not accomplish this mission God has given us.  In this war between good and evil, we must develop strategic plans on how we are going to seek and save the lost.  These plans should be developed and activated within the church body.  This is why Jesus created the Church.

The church is God’s appointed agency for the salvation of men. It was organized for service, and its mission is to carry the gospel to the world. From the beginning it has been God’s plan that through His church shall be reflected to the world His fullness and His sufficiency. The members of the church, those whom He has called out of darkness into His marvelous light, are to show forth His glory. The church is the repository of the riches of the grace of Christ; and through the church will eventually be made manifest, even to “the principalities and powers in heavenly places,” the final and full display of the love of God.  Ephesians 3:10.  {AA 9.1}

The Church is not a country club where people become members, fellowship, and eat some good food… this could take place in personal homes.  Church is supposed to be the mission headquarters.

We are not to wait for souls to come to us; we must seek them out where they are. When the word has been preached in the pulpit, the work has but just begun. There are multitudes who will never be reached by the gospel unless it is carried to them.  {COL 229.3}

The Spirit of Prophecy clearly says, “We are not to wait for souls to come to us…”  If this is true, then why are thousands of pastors, elders, deacons, and church members “playing church” instead of educating members how to be effective modern-day disciples and leading them into the local mission fields?  The time has come for us to GO!

The question is… What will you do this Sabbath to GO for Jesus?  Will you GO as Jesus has commanded or will you disobey your Lord and Savior? Jesus Harvest

Remember, the Holy Spirit is not all about a fluffy, feel-good experience.  Being filled with the Holy Spirit will cause us to be missional like Jesus when He was here on earth.  When we are like Jesus, we are willing to step out of our comfort zones and intentionally seek and save the lost.

Soooooo…. How are you going to GO for Jesus this Sabbath and throughout the next week?

  1. Grab some church literature and go pass it out
  2. Create a simple survey to discover who the needy are within the community and then follow it up with taking care of the needs
  3. Go volunteer at a homeless food shelter
  4. Develop a mentorship program for single-parent families

Here is a GREAT video about becoming a missional church once again.
